My Daily Panic Attacks are a Good Thing…

…You see anything worth doing, that is meaningful, is going to test you. It will try to get you to take the easy way out, and every day becomes a fight against resistence.

In the past weeks I’ve started a few new things, which are fantastic. — AND keep me up all night with lumps in my stomach.

It must be good. I’m caring about it a lot.

Here are the three things I’m driving forward:

The Community Factor:
I decided to start an independant agency helping companies and organizations build and engage their communities. This goes much much deeper than social media — I’m professing there will be a fundamental shift in marketing toward participation. I’m talking to first clients, working on a methodology, working hard on building the brand.

Community Hacks:
Community Hacks is a meet-up group for anyone who currently leads, organizes, and manages online communities. I started this group for large organizations, non-profits and start-ups to exchange community best practices, share challenges and solutions, and ignite ideas! Nearly 80 people have joined the group, and we have 26 people at the first event, with 12 on a wait list! I’m busy planning the next one to coincide with Community Manager Appreciation Day on January 22nd.

The Community Alliance:
The Community Alliance group aims to bring together thought leaders and innovators who are studying and bringing community participation forward in business. This groups which is just forming includes Harvard Business School Professionals, MIT and other tier one brands with the view to documenting and refining core operating principles, drive wider adoption of these participation and engagement models in business, and teach best practises.

Yepp - you can see why my anxiety is through the roof. Super exciting and meaningful, and it all seems to be reasonating with folks. More to come!
